Regulatory Compliance

regulatory compliance mexico

The Mexican food and dietary supplement industry has seen significant expansion in recent years. The Mexican market stands apart from other Latin American markets due to its unique position and partnership with the US FDA. As of October 2020, the US FDA has enhanced its partnership with Mexican COFEPRIS (Federal Commission for the Protection from Sanitary Risks) and SENASICA (National Service of Agro-Alimentary Health, Safety and Quality) to work on food safety in both countries.

COFEPRIS outlines regulations around hygienic practices for processing of food, beverages and dietary supplements, including production, packaging and distribution. Manufacturers and retailers of natural health products must file a function claim with COFEPRIS 30 days prior to start of operations in the country.
